TDCF recently organized a pottery painting workshop for dementia patients in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Chennai Towers at CURI Hospital. The event provided a creative outlet for participants, allowing both patients and caregivers to engage in a hands-on, therapeutic activity that fostered relaxation, self-expression, and connection. The workshop was guided by Mrs. Radha Ramakrishnan and Ms. Rukmani from the Rotary Club, along with Mrs. Archana Rajebhonsle who are specialists in Camel Art, and Ms. Aishwarya Satish provided expert guidance and support throughout the session.
The workshop fostered cognitive stimulation and motor skill engagement, which are essential for maintaining the mental and physical well-being of dementia patients. It also created a meaningful opportunity for caregivers to bond with their loved ones in a supportive and interactive environment, strengthening their relationship. By encouraging focus and mindfulness through the creative process, the event promoted emotional well-being and a sense of accomplishment for both patients and caregivers. Additionally, it fostered a sense of community by bringing together individuals facing similar challenges, encouraging social interaction and mutual support. Overall, the initiative highlighted the importance of incorporating creative activities into dementia care to enhance the quality of life for both patients and caregivers.
