In Patient Care

Dementia is a condition that currently has no cure. Recognizing this, The Dementia Care Foundation has initiated an Inpatient Care Program alongside our daycare service. This program provides specialized care and support for individuals living with dementia. Additionally, we conduct regular caregiver support group meetings to provide assistance and guidance to caregivers.

Reasons for Admission

  • There are many reason why an elder can be admitted to the Dementia IP Care unit, the primary one being that they have been diagnosed with Dementia. Given below are a few more reasons that you would want your loved one to be enrolled.
  • Caregiver stress of burnout - In some cases, caregivers may be unable to provide the level of care required due to their own health issues or other commitments. Inpatient care can provide respite for caregivers and ensure the individual's needs are met.
  • Medication management - Some individuals with dementia may require complex medication regimens that need close monitoring and adjustment, which can be provided in an inpatient setting.
  • Medical complications - Dementia can increase the risk of other health issues, such as infections, dehydration, or malnutrition. Inpatient care can ensure timely medical intervention and monitoring.
  • Safety concerns - People with dementia may be at risk of wandering, falls, or self-neglect, especially in later stages of the disease. Inpatient care can provide a safe environment with 24/7 supervision.

Admission Procedure

  • Registration - Register the details of the patient with the hospital and book a consultation with Psychiatrist.
  • Consultation with Psychiatrist - Our Psychiatrists will evaluate and assess the needs of the patient and thereafter recommend for admission.
  • Consultation with Physician - If in case that the Psychiatrist requires the Physician to review the patient, a consultation with them will be scheduled, after which a decision about admission will be taken.
  • Submission of Medical Records - The caregivers will have to provide complete medical history of the patient, which is essential for medical management.
